Merry Christmas you beautiful people! I hope you all have had a wonderful couple of days spent with your families and friends. Cherishing every moment of this special time with your loved ones.
Personally, I have been blessed to get to spend yet another Christmas with my very large and in charge family and I couldn’t be more grateful. With that being said, I wanted to come on here and share with you all a little run down of what my typical West Indian Christmas is like. The Christmas festivities began yesterday as my family started to roll in from all over the States which always excites me. It’s always a good feeling to see loved ones that you haven’t spent time with in a while. And while everyone says their hellos and catches up on the latest and greatest, the cooking commences! Now, I don’t know if you’ve ever stepped foot in a West Indian kitchen during the holidays, but boyyy is it a treat! I watched as my mom, dad, aunts, and uncles all whipped up their legendary dishes to get them ready for the masses of people that share Christmas evening with us. I hope that one day I can be as masterful in the kitchen as my mom as I don’t believe there is one thing she can’t cook.
This honestly takes up all day, but the bonding that is done during these activities is something spectacular in itself. Roll around to Christmas Day and the festivities begin! This morning my family and I exchanged gifts with one another while we relaxed and enjoyed the quiet morning. Around early afternoon it was time to get ready in which I chose to wear this beautiful emerald green chunky knit sweater from Pretty Little Thing with my BDG high rise skinny jeans and these STUNNING leather thigh high boots from Just Fab. Now, you might be thinking it’s a lot too toasty here in Florida to be wearing such a thick sweater… and you’re 100 percent right, but, I mean, look how vibrant it is! And plus it cooled down come sunset so it was totally worth it! I felt sooo spirited! I can’t wait to put this sweater to good use in colder weather, but for now this will do.
After I got dressed I came downstairs (snuck outside for a quick photo shoot courtesy of my cousin, Rashad) and waited for the remainder of my family to arrive. Slowly but surely they all showed up and before you know it we were saying Grace and chowing down on all the delicious foods! After eating and catching the itis, everyone settled in, took some photos, and began chatting the night away. Even though my entire family didn’t get to join, this Christmas has been one for the books as it’s always great to experience something from your childhood in a different stage of your life. The holidays are always a joyful time and today has been exactly that. I know this was a super long post, but I really wanted to share this day with you all before the moment passed. Again, I hope you all had an amazing day today filled with love and those you love around you! ❤️
