I know, I know! Black and brown paired together is seen as a major faux pas, but really is it that awful? I don’t think so, as a matter of fact, I actually love the two colors together. So without further ado in my How To series, my take on wearing black and brown together:
When pairing these two colors there are many ways to go about doing so. The most common being to pair your black clothing with lighter shades of brown so that you can escape the habit of looking like you are color blind in your attempts to pull together a seemingly coherent outfit. lol 🙂 Or you can pair a slightly darker shade of brown that has undertones of a stronger color, which is what I chose to do with my H&M top. This top has a golden undertone that definitely made it easier to pair with black pieces as I felt like it became less focused on the brown base. To continue this outfit, I paired the top with these pants from Urban Outfitters that actually carry a bit of every color, black, brown, and lighter variations of both colors. I find that these were the perfect trousers to tie the entire look together as they are super cute and amazingly comfortable. Of course when wearing black and brown together one has to be super careful not to bog down the outfit with loads of dark colors, so I can’t stress enough how necessary these light trousers were to create a brighter look. For my few black pieces I kept them to a minimum. I added my floor-length black cardigan from Windsor as I felt that it was light and good for a long day, as well as my chunky black boots to make the outfit more edgy. Plus for an added bonus I get to wear the most comfortable boots ever. I liked how the boots and the cardigan made the darker shades within the pants stand out, as it did loads to change this outfit. Finally, to accessorize, I pulled out my gold choker from Urban Outfitters as it is the perfect minimalistic piece to complete this look.
Now I know many of you don’t particularly like black and brown together, but you have to admit this outfit does look pretty good together 🙂 hah. And for those of you who don’t hesitate to pair these colors together, here is my style interpretation on how I like to do it! Have you ever worn black and brown together in an outfit? How did you like it?
